Hi, I'm Melissa
I’ve been in private practice for more than 11 years. I work with people struggling with their emotions, relationships, or familiar patterns that are hard to change, even when they may understand them well.
I’m curious and actively involved in therapy. We’ll think together, but we’ll also slow down and pay attention to what you’re feeling as we talk. My work draws on psychodynamic psychotherapy, AEDP, and the practical skills and Zen philosophy of DBT, making room both for understanding yourself more deeply and for figuring out what might help right now.
I studied psychology at Columbia University and earned my master’s in social work at NYU. I’ve also completed intensive training in DBT, CBT, and Level 2 training in AEDP. I’m the founder and CEO of The Wise Center for DBT in Alabama, where we’ve served thousands of individuals and families since 2020.
Alongside that work, I maintain a small private practice and occasionally have openings for new clients. You’re welcome to get in touch, share a little about what brings you to therapy, and ask any questions you have about working together.
